Patricia Barksdale\, U.S. Magistrate Judge\, Middle District of FloridaPatricia Barksdale was sworn in as a United States Magistrate Judge in 2013. Judge Barksdale received her B.A. and J.D. from the University of Florida. Judge Barksdale clerked for Circuit Judge Emmett Cox\, United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit\, and later for District Judge Timothy Corrigan\, United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She worked in private practice at a national law firm and as in-house counsel for a large corporation before serving eight years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Middle District of Florida. Through an appointment by Chief Justice John Roberts\, she recently served as the Magistrate Judge Observer to the Judicial Conference. She has served as Chair of The Florida Bar Federal Practice Committee\, President of the Jacksonville Chapter of the Federal Bar Association\, and President of the Chester Bedell American Inn of Court. She currently serves on the University of Florida Law Center Association Board of Trustees and the Case Management Modernization Board. \nHon. Allison Goddard\, U.S. Magistrate Judge\, Southern District of CaliforniaJudge Allison Goddard was sworn in as a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of California in August 2019. She graduated from Boston College in 1993 and received her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2000. Judge Goddard spent the first half of her legal career representing corporate defendants in litigation at Cooley LLP and her own law firm\, Jaczko Goddard LLP. In 2011\, she shifted her practice to representing plaintiffs in complex and intellectual property litigation. She has tried several cases\, including class actions and patent infringement disputes. Judge Goddard speaks regularly on eDiscovery and technology in the law. She teaches trial practice and coaches a mock trial team at a local high school. She is a member of the Board of Visitors of the University of San Diego School of Law and the Executive Board of the Louis M. Welsh Inn of Court. \nHon. A. Joel Richlin\, U.S. Magistrate Judge\, Central District of CaliforniaJudge A. Joel Richlin was sworn in as a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Central District of California in July of 2023. He graduated from Northwestern University in 2003 and received his J.D. from Loyola Law School Los Angeles in 2006. Judge Richlin began his career serving as a law clerk to three judges in the Central District of California for nearly five years\, working at both the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and the U.S. District Court. Judge Richlin then worked in the Los Angeles Office of international law firm\, Foley & Lardner LLP\, where he was a Senior Counsel in the Business Litigation Group. Judge Richlin ultimately left Foley & Lardner LLP to serve as in-house counsel for Prime Healthcare\, one of the nation’s largest hospital systems. Judge Richlin served as the Chief Litigation Officer and then General Counsel for Prime Healthcare\, where he led a national legal department of more than 30 attorneys and 19 support staff and was responsible for all litigation on behalf of the company’s hospitals and other business units\, which included a real estate development firm and medical school. For the past 16 years\, Judge Richlin has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Loyola Law School Los Angeles where he has taught various classes involving appellate brief writing and oral advocacy.

She has worked in legal technology for more than 30 years. She has a paralegal degree and has worked in law firms and in-house litigation departments. She manages Vorys’ litigation technology department\, which provides in-house support\, training\, processing and production of e-discovery. \nJulie is active in coordinating litigation technology education opportunities for the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) and serves as the Conference Co-Chair for ILTACon 2019-2020. She is a certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS) and is certified in ViewPoint\, Summation\, Sanction\, Law 5.0\, the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Lean Six Sigma. \nSpeakers:\n\n\n\nTimothy M. Opsitnick is the Executive Vice President and General Counsel\, Technology Concepts & Design\, Inc. (“TCDI”). Opsitnick is at the forefront of practitioners addressing issues involved in the security and discovery of electronically stored information. He has conducted numerous continuing legal education seminars regarding cybersecurity\, data privacy\, electronic discovery\, and other technology issues. In addition\, he has served as a court appointed Special Master and as an expert witness. His clients include United States and international law firms and companies. Furthermore\, Opsitnick leads TCDI’s acquisition strategy. \nOpsitnick founded JURINNOV Ltd. (“JURINNOV”) in 2000. JURINNOV provided data privacy\, cybersecurity\, computer forensics and eDiscovery services. JURINNOV was acquired by TCDI in 2016\, expanding TCDI’s services to include data privacy\, cybersecurity\, and computer forensics consulting. Prior to that time\, Opsitnick was with the law firm of Jones Day\, where he was a member of the Litigation and Product Liability sections. His practice concentrated on the management of complex\, multi-district litigation \n\n\n\nSonya Judkins is Senior Manager of Discovery and Information Governance in T-Mobile’s Legal Department in Reston\, Virginia. Mrs. Judkins is responsible for managing e-discovery and information governance best practices. Sonya specializes in the areas of in-house legal/litigation practices and procedures\, management of core-team efforts to implement policies\, procedures and tools helping to mitigate risks associated with the preservation and production of electronically stored information thereby ensuring compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations. She works closely with the Records Management and IT functional areas to ensure compliance of legal holds and discovery requirements. \nMrs. Judkins received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude in Business Administration with an emphasis for contracts and acquisitions from Strayer University in Alexandria\, Virginia. Mrs. Judkins is also ACEDS certified and a Notary Public.
